With a passion for school improvement Gareth has supported the leadership team of his most recent school to achieve a Good Ofsted rating following a string of Satisfactory judgments.

In 2014 Gareth was a lead practitioner in the DFE and NCTL Beyond Levels research project; investigating and presenting good practice models and solutions to the ‘Assessing Without Levels’ agenda. He has worked alongside colleagues from the Stourport Teaching School Alliance to support schools nationally to develop their own understanding of ‘Life Without Levels’ and to create a tracking and analysis system specific to their particular needs.

As a Deputy Head Teacher he was commended by Ofsted for his understanding and presentation of data and how its analysis has been used to identify school priorities and secure improvement. He has trained middle and senior leaders in how to analyse data and supported schools to prepare for inspections by using data to form accurate self-evaluation documents. He has most recently worked with primary schools to develop school partnerships and embed the revised Primary Curriculum ensuring a consistent understanding of the new core objectives through shared training and regular joint moderation of pupils' work.

As a keen ICT enthusiast, he has supported the Local Authority and individual schools to develop ICT and Computing skills in line with the revised curriculum. He has a passion for programming and has run a series of master classes for pupils and teachers. He has worked with Universities and SCITT programmes to train student teachers and has been a lead mentor for NQT and RQTs.

Gareth is a consultant for School Pupil Tracker, one of the country's leading primary assessment tools and through this and other independent work has supported many schools to present, understand, interpret and use internal and external, official data.  He regularly leads assessment update sessions and runs over-subscribed ASP training courses across the country.
